Haverhill, Massachusetts

Beards and sideburns, with the razor

Six chairs on Washington Street. Here the beard and sideburns come first: shaped, trimmed and lined with the razor. Walk in or book your chair.

Two leather barber chairs on a black and white checkered floor, beside a glass door with a barber pole

Beard and sideburns

Four steps, from shape to razor

How a beard with sideburns is done in the chair, and how long each step takes.

  1. 5 min

    Step 1: The shape

The barber looks at how your beard grows and at your face, and tells you what shape suits it. With the comb he marks how high the cheek line goes and where the neck line drops.

  2. 10–15 min

    Step 2: The trim

Clippers with a guard and scissors to even out the length. The sideburns come down or stay long, as you ask.

  3. 10–15 min

    Step 3: The razor line

With lather and the razor, the edge of the sideburns, the cheek and the neck are drawn. This is what leaves the beard clean.

  4. 5 min

Step 4: Hot towel and finish

A hot towel to close, a little oil and a last pass with the comb.
